What exactly does a partnership with Global Payments mean?

This 10-year partnership means that Global Payments has acquired Desjardins’s entire merchant portfolio, currently housed under the Monetico brand. Starting in March 2020, global Payments will gradually replace all merchants’ equipment.

Why did Desjardins choose Global Payments?

Global Payments also offers a range of reliable, secure and state-of-the-art payment solutions and continuously invests large sums of money in the research and development of innovative products and services. 

What will happen to the contracts Desjardins has already signed with merchants?

Global Payments will acquire all Desjardins merchant contracts. Desjardins will provide the agreed-upon services to merchants up until the moment that Global Payments replaces their equipment and technology.

 

What if I don’t want to migrate?

Your solution needs to be migrated. If you want to close your account, the terms for cancelling the payment services agreement will apply. 

What are the steps in the transition to Global Payments?

They will include replacing Desjardins equipment with Global Payments equipment at all points of sale and providing the technical support needed for this transition. You’ll receive a letter from Global Payments at least 30 days before the planned migration date. It will include the details of your new payment solution as well as the next steps for your migration. Our teams are working on the migration strategy to make sure that your replacement solution is equivalent to or better than the one you’re currently using. 

How will my payment terminal be replaced?

Global Payments will replace your terminal with a new one that has the latest technology. More details will be available in your migration letter.

Will Global Payments accept the same debit and credit cards?

Yes, Global Payments works with a wide range of payment methods and digital wallets. You’ll be able to continue accepting the same cards.  

Will my rates change after I migrate?

No. The existing rates under your Agreement will not change upon migration to Global Payments, subject to the fee changes we communicated in writing and detailed on your January 2020 merchant statement. You’ll still have Desjardins Member Advantages if you had them before. If Global Payments needs to adjust your rates after you migrate, you’ll be officially notified as required by the Code of Conduct for the Credit and Debit Card Industry in Canada.

Will my deposit fees change?

No. This advantage will still be available to Desjardins members. You won’t be charged for deposits to a Desjardins account.

How long does it take to deposit transactions?

It will take the same amount of time. Desjardins members will receive their deposits the next business day. Exception: Merchants that stay open late (restaurants, bars, hotels) may have to wait an extra day.

What will happen to my access to the Monetico portal and my reports there?

Your Desjardins merchant reports will not be transferred to the Global Payments portal. You should download your Monetico reports as part of your migration process, so you can keep any important information for managing your business. Once you’ve migrated to Global Payments, you’ll get an email with access information for their merchant portal. To find out the migration process for the portal, please see our page on that topic. 

What’s happening to my Accord D service?

In-store Accord D financing will be gradually phased out starting May 1, 2020. Desjardins will respect all of its contractual commitments with merchants and clients, and will ensure that there are no disruptions in business continuity for in-store Accord D financing services. To support you during this transition, we’ve created a toolbox that contains an FAQ and a series of tips and tricks that can help you continue your operations and begin thinking strategically.
